Charles Wilkerson was 25 years old and working in construction in 2008. He had a truck, a cottage in Cotuit and a steady girlfriend.
He lost it all to heroin. Then, less than a year later, he lost his life to the drug.
He was a talented artist and skilled carpenter, according to his obituary. He was also a voracious reader, preferring contemporary literature and nonfiction. He had a quick, dry wit that was never mean.
Charlie also struggled mightily for many years with heroin addiction, his obituary said. He received a lot of support and many acts of kindness from the Falmouth community.
But most of all, Charlie was a loving and caring person, and a loyal friend.
